I have started Real Mothering to provide a place for parents to find information that is in my opinion useful, reasonable, sound, and considerate of the incredibly special role of parenthood. I hope to offer my insights as a psychiatrist and my experience as a mother to help parents sort through the tremendous literature and media on parenting to find what works for them and their little one. I sincerely hope that through your visits to Real Mothering, you will feel supported, informed, and empowered by the information and insights that you find here.
You will find four sections here on Real Mothering: Insights which are my thoughts on an assortment of topics related to motherhood from how to communicate with your partner to things I’ve learned about encouraging little ones to eat well, Book Reviews where I will review some of my favorite titles in parenting and pregnancy, Data where I will comment on scientific studies that may be relevant to parents or parents-to-be and interview colleagues in other medical disciplines about a topic in maternal or pediatric health, and Real Mothers, where I will interview and profile real mothers about their lives with their child(ren).
Thank you visiting and enjoy your journey!
